LA based filmmaker Lina Esco’s “FREE THE NIPPLE” is based on true events about a topless group of women who bravely fought the censorship laws in New York. The film is almost done and she’s seeking help to get it out there.

If we see Men walking around in shirtless in town and we automatically think they are just showing off their body or part of some kind gangs.         I think he is cautioning them that there are people out there who cant control themselves.
        Yes it is wrong, but that is how it is unfortunately. No one should have to worry about sexual assault, or assault in general for that matter, but at the end of the day there will always be bad people, and nothing can really be done about it until they break a law and assault someone, and get caught for it.

        Take a look at all the king hits for example. No bloke should have to worry on a night out about that. It is against the law to smack someone like that, and it is a dog as fuck act.       The problem is that what is attractive is entirely subjective and cultural. In some parts of the world, shoulders are considered “sexually attractive parts” and so those women generally do not walk around in tank tops and such. But ironically, what makes them attractive is that men see them less often. That is one of the reasons why men consider breasts to be attractive. In the end, breasts are NOT sexual organs and thus society (and by that, I mean men) should not dictate that women cover them up.

      This isn’t a sexist or women-hating comment. As a woman, I actually understand where he is coming from. If I were to expose myself and get attacked, it is only the attackers fault. But some of these people, like he said, cannot control themselves, and so by exposing “sexually attractive” body parts, the risk is greater. Sure, its “unfair” for women to have to remain covered up, but like he said, it might be a bad idea for us all to walk around topless.         What I am saying is that the basis of this argument is completely normative (“this is how the world ought to be”); the movement and all of it’s supporting arguments on this board are missing the essential analytical tool of cause and effect. The intention of the movement is clear; women want to be seen more equally. But women walking around topless will actually have the opposite effect on the community, than supposedly intended. Take a second and look at the headlining picture; do you not see the man behind her pervertedly smiling with the camera? Do you think that if she were to give a speech on woman aspiring to further advancement, that anyone would listen? No they wouldn’t, the men in the room would be too busy looking at her as a “sexual object”, and not care at all about what she has to say. Women like her only hinder the female race. A true feminist would use her intelligence, and innate qualities to gain respect. But in this era, women who try to reframe from being over-sexualized are judged and often times unwanted, because topless woman are the reference point. Just go to middle schools today; the girls there idolize women who let it all hang out because they are lusted after by boys. And as a cause-and-effect consequence, these young girls post naked pictures of themselves on the web, or wear as little as they can to school the next morning; just to be desired.

    I think most ppl have missed the point here, the fact that it is a criminal offence and women can be arrested, jailed and fined over the issue is over the top. Women should be allowed to breast feed in public and go topless on the beach, just as they do in Europe.     It is not our fault men have deemed breasts to be sexual and so therefore it is the women’s burden to cover them up, this is just another cage men try to put us in.
    There are many tribal cultures in Africa and Asia where breasts are not considered sexual at all, and many countries in Europe that wouldn’t bat an eye at a topless woman. This is entirely a cultural issue and has nothing to do with a woman’s morals.
