This event would have been sick, provided the weather played fairly.
Last week saw the first of a new event being put together by Sydney Motorsport Park and Hi-Tech Oils. A new Sydney based drift exhibition and competition. It was meant to be held on a Friday night, a great way to unwind from a stressful week of work, but as the rain gods decided to ruin the parade the event was pushed back to Sunday evening… where the weather did not change much at all.
Our involvement was selecting 10 of Sydney’s craziest street driven “show” cars, arranging them nicely by the track and putting them on display for the hope to win a new set of tires from Achillies.
We had the guys from Acquired Taste bring down a few of their crews top, Troy’s freshly finished S14A, Mat’s HSV Maloo which is about to get some Zen Garage Widebody treatment, to name a few. The guys showed true form and even though the heavens were pouring tears on them for a cold shivering night, they came in numbers and represented nicely.
The drifting had eyes on Blaze Unit, providing consistent and faster runs then most. We knew we’d be happy to see our boys Jabbit and Schembri up on the podium once again. Jabbit taking the win, and Schembri finishing in 3rd!
Weather aside, the event was a step in the right direction of putting on a show with some real attractions. We want to thank Hi-Tech Oils for hosting us, and look forward to the next one!
