Great work by Australian Artist Joseph Marr who creates life sized sculptures that are made out of sugar. Marr colours the sculptures with ingredients like cola and raspberry fruit… sweet, right?!

    These sculptures are very impressive, but a machine is producing the objects. It’s not complete art in my eyes.

    I respect anybody that appreciates this type of process, but were is the human force that molded the object

      Art is in the eye of the beholder, for sure. The ‘human force’ is in the concept in this case. And “complete art” is infinitely arguable.

    I like both comments (I am the artist who made the sculptures) I used to have the same opinion of human force being the deepest expression one could have as an artist. When my ideas changed from being very personal to being much broader observations of people, I wanted to actually remove the personal touch that the “hand of the artist” gives. Therefore machines serve this purpose. using your hands gives your interpretation of the person (when sculpting a human) and I don’t want to interpret the form of a human, I want the photographic version so there is nothing to disturb the audience from the reality of a human in another medium…

      I guess i never saw in that perspective, now that i have heard the reason why you choose to create art this way. now i really apreciate your style and what you are trying to do. i also forgot the most important lesson in art, there is no limits in how to create art.
