Is this the ultimate JDM track-day wagon? See it from the back and to the un-trained eye, you’d be forgiven for thinking that someone’s thrown a bunch of EVO panels at a Mitsubishi Cedia, slapped on some stickers and called it a day.
In 2005, Mitsubishi set out to build only 2500 EVO IX wagons exclusively for the Japanese market, though Wikipedia suggests that number was actually closer to 3000. Beneath this slightly unfamiliar body of practical performance is everything you’d expect that makes an EVO, an EVO. Aidan’s ‘06 Mitsubishi EVO IX Wagon is no exception.
Get a glimpse through the grille at its massive Garrett G30-900 Turbo, blasting 26psi of boost through a Plazmaman intercooler and you’ll realise that this build is something more special – even by EVO standards.
If the rally-inspired Mitsubishi livery didn’t already give it away, this wagon has been put together with one purpose. 350kw of pure unadulterated fun. Cradled in it’s ‘Rolls Royce Twilight Purple’ engine bay, you’ll find a built 4G63 filled with internals like Manley H-Beam rods, CP pistons, S2 cams and more from GSC Performance.
A Link G4+ runs the show while a Powertune digital dash provides you with the vitals. Put it all together and you have a well-balanced road & track car capable of exciting passengers and onlookers alike.
