Over the weekend, Wakefield Park and the city of Goulburn played host to the 7th annual Evo Nationals. The weekend consisted of a time attack event on Saturday followed by an awards night and dinner. Then on Sunday a hill climb at Wakefield Park and 800m dash at Goulburn’s local runway.
Like any typical track day with a slight hint of competition, laughter and jokes were left in the pits, and it was business as usual on track. Drivers pushed hard and it showed on the time sheets. Fastest lap of a 1:01.54 went to EvoOz member Martin@Notaras, followed closely by NickEvo9 (1:01.73) and JEVO (1:02.36).
Our team (Road Track Rally) entered the RTR Evo X, but mainly was there to support the event, the Evo Oz members and RTR customers. Evo Nationals provided us with a great opportunity for testing and prep work for the WTAC club sprint event, surprisingly we did pretty well and went home satisfy with the results. Our target time of a 1.04 was achieved, given the kerb weight and choice of tyre being used, the RTR Evo X belted out 1.04.58! The RTR team walked away with having the fastest Evo X, and the fastest car outright on road tyres, so it was smiles all round.
A big thank you to the organizers, volunteers and Evo Oz members who made the 2012 Evo Nationals possible and a great success. The Evo Oz guys run a tight event, the first time I went (back in 2011), I was really impressed and this year they again nailed it. Good on ya guys.
