A vehicles chassis, over time, ages. After more than 20 years of abuse on Sydney’s not-so-awesome roads, a car can begin to feel a little ‘loose’ and ‘tired’ so to say.
Without going to the full extent of a roll cage, strut and undercar bracing packages are a good way to help stiffen things up back to OEM, if not, better specs. The six piece brace kit we purchased consisted of two strut tower bars, two undercar bars and one C-pillar brace. Standard rubber bushings perish over time too. Whether it’s from weather conditions or just general abuse, eventually these pesky little buggers need changing.
Certainly looks ‘race car’, but does it actually do anything? We’ll find out once we’ve taken the car for a nice punt around for decent roads soon.
Bushing is an overlooked part of car modification. For little outlay, they can really improve chassis feel and dynamics. Good poly bushings tend to keep important suspension arms stiffly mounted with little play.
We decided on ordering a complete bush-kit for the car, and brand new engine mounts. The upper camber arms and related arms will not be done however, as when we replace these items for adjustable versions, they will more than likely be rose jointed!
