A lot has been going on lately, as much as people might think I have it quite easy… my world has been going at a 100kmph and my little legs just can’t keep up! But what’s good about all this is the fact that whenever one is busy, one procrastinates! And procrastination is the key to imagination, and imagination is the key to ridiculous rants about nothing and everything. So if you’re ready, here goes…

If I stated these two words; reflection – cars, what you think? The deeper mind might start to play with the concept of how our cars are a reflection of who we are, the simpler mind (like mine) would probably think about those perfect moments when you’re driving past a shop front of business building and…. There is it, your baby.

Now, I’m sure this is something we can all relate to but it doesn’t just happen with any car. I’ve come to realise that if you’re driving a car in which you do not look at reflections of whilst driving, then sell it and move on. The love isn’t there; the underlying secret affair that you never knew you had in the first place. That’s the love for your car which makes you turn your head and look.

It doesn’t matter if your car is slow, ugly, functional, cute, old, new or God’s gift to our roads. This love you have for your car is found in its natural habitat, in a moving state, through the reflections you see. The flashes of different window angles and textures give off an almost strobe like effect to your eyes, leaving you with wanting more.

Years ago I remember driving my 1988 BMW E30 M3; this is one moment I’ll never forget; I had just turned right at speed into a street with shop front windows. I look out the left hand window to see this low, black, sharp object just blurring past the shops. The feel of the steering wheel in my hands and Recaro seat holding me tight. The scream of intake and exhaust blending perfectly into this symphony of mechanical bliss. Suddenly there is nothing else except that reflection just angrily staring back at me through flashes and interrupted reflections of different shop windows.

That moment – that moment was the one where I truly fell in love.

These are the moments that reignite my passion for what I do, and why ‘cars’. Because truthfully, there are two things in the world that will be the death of me, and they are Cars and Females. Both of which I can’t stop admiring the beauty, shapes, curves, the… this is getting erotic! I Might just leave “the death of me” for next time.

Safe Driving!
