Finally some progress on the deathtrap. We’ve had some annoying issues as we’re trying to fit the motor kit onto a road bike instead of a mountain bike. Road bike dimensions are a lot thinner, the crank arms are hitting the muffler, the non-drive side motor chain is hitting the frame, the rear sprocket wasn’t fitting onto the rear hub and the chainline is way off.
With beers, sweat, swearing and some of dremel action we’ve managed to get the rear sprocket on and the chain line issue looks to be sorted. Unfortunately a bicycle chain won’t break a motorbike chain so we’ve come to a halt for now.
Rear sprocket bolted on to the 27inch rear wheel. It’s all a bit primitive, but it works AOK.
Motor sprocket.
Motorbike chain mounted and cover installed.
We’ve set the carby needle on it’s richest setting to bed the engine in. It’s all hooked up to the throttle now.
