I first promoted the surreal self-portraits of Natalie Dybisz (AKA Miss Aniela) on Sex in Art in 2007. If you flick back to the beginning of her Flickr feed (2006) you’ll see ordinary everyday photos. It wasn’t until 2007 that she got into taking photos of herself (she was a uni student at the time) and in her attempts to capture the different feelings she felt in a day she’d multiply herself in the one shot, this multiplicity nabbed a lot of attention from Flickr users and blogs all over the world.
She’s a classic example of making your own success through doing something you love. She’s sustained that momentum by pushing herself. First from self portraits, to multiplicity, levitation and now the surreal in both art and commercial worlds.
