More than 3 years have passed since the Tohoku earthquake, although many are still struggling to rebuild their lives due to the damage left by the tsunami, there are still areas that remain uninhabitable.
The town of Tomioka is home to the Fukushima nuclear power plant and although it’s estimated to be decades until radiation is brought down to an acceptable level for living, that hasn’t stopped Tokyo-based photography company, HEXaMedia, from capturing the current state of Tomioka. Shot with the help of aerial drones, Tomioka has become a ghost town.
What’s really creepy is that we can’t help but admire the beautiful cherry blossoms flourishing amidst the destruction.
