Honda engines love to breathe. A common thread between them all is that they enjoy a decent, high flowing intake and regardless of the series, all give off a gnarly throaty growl with one. With the myriad of intakes available on the market, we were stumped for choice.
So we ended down to JDMyard to visit Yonas, who’s the go-to guy when it comes to modifying a Honda. After all, he’s owned a CRX too. Here’s the man himself showing us what he recommended, an INJEN cold air intake.
So, what does the bay look like now? Well, pretty factory standard. The OEM airbox has a K and N panel filter dropped into it however.
The INJEN intake is dyno tested and guarantees proven performance. It’s a long, single piece design that makes its way through to the factory cut-out where the airbox lies. The pod filter fits into the splashguard, externally mounted from the engine bay, which helps to prevent heat soak – a common issue on short ram intake systems. Being a bolt-in kit, it comes with all supplied vacuum hose and silicon jointers.
The finished product! INJEN make quality products. You can be assured that you’ll receive an ‘OEM-spec’ fitting item, that’ll utelise all original bolting points. This is good as you do not have to do any drilling for mounting brackets. This photo shows the fitment of the intake, and how it bends and paths its way down through the factory cut-out. The intake noise is considerably louder (Which is good!) but the top-end power of the car has increased noticeably. This mod will help further once the headers and exhaust system is installed.
And make sure you treat yourself to one of these afterwards!
