We spotted this amazing Shelby GT at Heasman Steering and we couldn’t help but ask the guys if we could feature it.
When it arrived at Heasman’s it was having some pretty bad bump steer issues (the guys find that when Mustangs are converted from steering box to a rack and pinion set up they get very bad bump steer issues due to being incorrectly set up), so first on the list was to sort that out. Heasman’s use CAD to make a 2D representation of the steering and suspension arms to assist in plotting out the changes they wanted to make to the front end of this Shelby. They had to make a billet steel plate to reposition the inner tie rod ends to assist in correcting the bump steer.
After making the changes they then used their custom made bump steer gauge to check if their adjustments had been successful. They then did a wheel alignment to get everything where is should be.
Heasman’s then built some Bilstein coilovers for the front of the car, and some custom rate Bilstein rear shocks matched with some Eibach springs for the rear.
The result of all this is a classic that handles like a new car!
