Let me first start off by saying, WOW! Recently, I attended Sumospeed’s Springfest event. The event was held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This was my first time attending Springfest, and I was super stoked to go cover the event. My experience amplified. I got the opportunity to work with a rising model and import model named Devan Shiels throughout the entire event. She is an amazing woman to be around with a lot of inner and outer beauty. Definitely funny and heavily into cars. That’s right men, she is heavily into cars. Shooting with her was an honour and pure joy.
Special guest model that represented Sumospeed hails from Charlotte, North Carolina, Alma Nicole Dillon. She met her fans, signed prints, and even modeled some of the cars at the event such as James Gautier’s mean and bagged Mustang GT, Rodney’s Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R, Paul Manabat’s Mitsubishi “Famous Evo” Evolution X and many others. Kristina Hoang was there at the Royal Republic Crew booth signing prints, and doing a meet and greet with her fans. Hannah Sell was looking dashing as always. She was working alongside with Rsellos snapping epic photos.
Springfest was full of sponsors and vendors like Ramey Built, Stay N’ Moist, Tarmac Apparel, Canibeat, Slammedenuff, Import Obsessions, Race Bread, D2 Racing, and many others. Race Bread had their badass RB26/RB25 built Nissan 240sx (S13) drift car and Lexus SC300. Stay N’ Moist had their sponsored car there, Tyler Witman’s ultra-sexy Subaru WRX STI.
I was introduced to the co-founder, editor, and creative director of Canibeat Cristian Loza. Devan and I talked with Mr. Loza about the event and how well the turnout as opposed to last year’s Springfest. He’s a great guy and it was great to finally catch up with him. I also had the pleasure of meeting Slammedenuff owner Charlan Beunaventura. I got to admit, it was an honour meeting Mr. Beunaventura. I am a huge fan of Slammedenuff.
Car crews that flooded the inside of the convention center, were some of the best looking cars I have seen yet at a car show. The most notable surprise happened at the end of Springfest. My friend Rodney Heath II (Royal Republic Crew member) proposed to his lovely girlfriend Amanda Kobayashi in front of everyone. Definitely a memorable moment that we all will never forget.
Congratulations to Rodney and Amanda, God bless you both. Thank you Sumospeed for putting on an awesome event for us gear heads to enjoy, I thoroughly enjoyed every waking second of it. See you guys next year!
