What an amazing weekend it was recently. My friend Tom and I made our travels from Cary, North Carolina to Charlotte, North Carolina not only to see our friends, but to attend one of the biggest car shows on the East Coast called Tuner Evolution. It was a glorious fun filled weekend full of crazy shenanigans. Tuner Evolution was held at the Park Expo & Conference Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is Tuner Evolution’s second year here in North Carolina, and damn I could not wait to attend this massive show. On the day of Tuner Evolution, the weather was exceptionally resplendent! Fog and clouds dissipated in the early morning then the sun started to come out bringing in that good ole southern humidity around 10am.
While everyone was rolling in the venue and vendors setting up, I took some shots outside of the Park Expo in the back. I was alongside Fonz (Fonz Media), Tony Lopez (MeatyFlush), Ryan Pham (Ryan Pham Photography), Mike Kuhn (Mike Kuhn Racing), and Stephen Lobenstein (Stephen Lobenstein Photography) to name a few. It was so awesome to see my friends and being able to talk to them as were working on shooting the cars rolling in and capturing video. Crews like Emotion Crew, Flawless Fitment, Team RPM, Offensive Fitment, Trendsetterz Crew, and some of the Stay N’ Moist crew were in attendance. Vendors inside like PRPL, CarDrugs.com, Takata Racing, Naked Sushi, Avenue Performance, Rotiform, Kure Vaporium and Lounge, Bodega, UTI (Universal Technical Institute), and Slammedenuff were setting up and prepping for the mass amount of fans, families, and fellow car enthusiasts to come in. I caught up with friends around the venue and even put faces to Instagram names.
When the event started it was game on! The Expo packed in fairly quickly with people. DJ eXel on the ones and twos killing some dope fucking tracks at the show. Nothing beats shooting cars and beautiful models while listening to dope tunes. Crazy dance offs between Elliot Powell, Junior Smith and some of their other friends. It was highly entertaining. The model lounge was lit all day with the hottest names in import modeling. Marie Madore, Faith Marone, Jessica Hien, Brittani Paige, Bear Dellinger, Jeri Lee, Kiki Le, Theena Yang, Ela Pasion, and Stephanie Synder were all having a blast. It was so awesome to see these amazing women active with their fans and really enjoying the atmosphere. Even I had a blast meeting some of the models from out West and snapping pictures of them. Flawless Fitment models and my friend and model Lyndsie Phommechieng were there also having a great time as well. I managed to squeeze some shots of Lyndsie after she was snatched up by five other photographers at the Jap Starz booth. I managed to make my way to the Toyo Tires booth to shoot some cars. I finally met Nikki Howard who was the model for Toyo Tires. Super energetic and gorgeous.

Towards the end of the event there was a breaking dancing competition, rap performance the bikini contest. Rappers Micxsic and Phene came to the event and they did one hell of a job. I tip my Zen hat off to those two great men, they brought a lot of energy to the crowd. The bikini contest was MAD! Faith Marone, Ela Pasion, Bear Dellinger, and Diana Christina were in the competition. Ass everywhere! It was really a stiff competition, but the lovely Ela Pasion took the win for the contest. Congratulations to all of the ladies in the bikini completion and congratulations to Ela for winning overall. There were so many builds at this year’s Tuner Evolution in Charlotte and I want to congratulate everyone who took home a trophy. You all deserved it. I think I speak for many when I say this, I literally had the time of my life at Tuner Evolution. Like I said the atmosphere was so electric, fun, and calming all at once. Positive vibes all over and everyone enjoying each other’s company. I met new people, seen my friends, and caught up with friends that I don’t see often. Thank you Jay Martinez, Elliot Powell, and the rest of the Tuner Evolution staff for putting on a great event for North Carolina. And special thanks for Toyo Tires for coming to North Carolina and Naked Sushi making a hefty travel from Hawaii to come to my home state. That really means a lot to me and the rest of us in the automotive industry. Damn I miss everyone already so much. See you all next year. Much love to you all.
