With competitors and spectators travelling from across the globe to attend, World Time Attack Challenge barely needs an introduction at this point. Typically I’ll make the trip out to Sydney Motorsport Park each year for a myriad of reasons, it’s too big of an event to go for any one thing. This year was no different, and recently finding my way through being a father, the opportunity to spend some time with my young son has added a new angle to experience the WTAC spectacle.
My plan was simple, with compromise. Head out in the morning with the boy, get him home for his nap at midday. Back to the track in the afternoon to shoot the golden hour and stay on for the drifts. Catch up with peeps in between, and pick up some content for my rotary content passion-project – Brotary. Perfect.
In terms of covering the event, as an individual, you simply can’t do it without dedicating multiple days to the task. Luckily, as part of the Zen revival, we’ve been fortunate to have Melbourne shooter Curt Liddell come on board to contribute – watch out for his take on WTAC in the near future.
So with that said, to kick off our coverage of this absolute icon in the Australian automotive calendar, here’s 36 frames from my experience at WTAC this year.
STAY TUNED.
