Our inaugural Photowalk from Zen Garage through the back streets of Leichhardt to the Rozelle Tram Depot went down last weekend and it was a huge success, with one photographer saying post event that it was one of the most exciting moments in her entire life!!!

I’d been fretting over the bad weather forecast all week. I had even bought some ponchos in case people forgot to bring wet weather gear. Amazingly come 2pm the rain stopped and the sun came out to play! But that was just the beginning of our luck.

We had such a great group of people, of all different skill levels and all walks of life. Robbie came all the way from Canberra, big props to him for the effort. We had big guns Michael Vettas and Matthew Mead with us and it was also great to have Veronica Hunt with us, mother of James Hunt who’s the drummer of RÜFÜS (those who know me know that I love RÜFÜS!).

They say the journey is the destination, and it’s amazing how interesting the back streets of Leichhardt are. When we finally arrived at the Tram Depot we found the gates closed, as expected. The young at heart jumped the fence and took photos inside, but it wasn’t too long before security busted us! 2 cop cars greeted us outside, but once they realised we were a great bunch of people they let us go with a stern warning. Of-course we knew we were in the wrong, they were simply doing their job and as a group we had no hard feelings at all towards security, or the police! Being caught and let go just added to the amazing experience that was Zen’s first Photowalk. It was the final and perhaps biggest piece of luck, which was definitely on our side all day.
